Lancewood Villa’s eco-accommodation caters for a range of guests, from one night vacationers to longer-term travellers. There are spaces to suit singles, couples, families and groups of 4 – 10.
Lancewood Villa is one of those rare places to stay that goes gently on the Earth. It’s not simply a roof for the night, it’s a place where wildlife, the best of country traditions and global travellers come together. Everything we do here at Lancewood Villa puts care first – care of the water, soil and air, care of the trees and animals, and care of you.
We generate as much energy from the sun as we can through our photovoltaic panels;
We avoid using plastics – our soap is not wrapped and is handmade with all natural products by Nelson-based Global Soap NZ ( http://www.globalsoapnz.co.nz ); we provide re-usable shopping bags for guests;
We encourage guests to minimise waste by refilling water bottles from our filtered water supply, sorting rubbish for recycling glass, paper, tin and plastics; compost where possible.
Our cleaning is chemical free using http://shop.enjo.co.nz/about-enjo; Our pool is a natural pool http://naturalpoolsnz.com – no chlorine and no chemicals – it’s all about keeping it clean and natural!
All bedding is either 100% natural cotton or linen;
Our in-room tea and coffee supplies are organic and fair trade and with biodegradable packaging;
We support local eco-friendly businesses including stocking local organic wine for sale to our guests;
All our in-room and kitchen paper products are from the Green Cane company http://greencane.com/ “a tree saving solution for a group of everyday products … “
We encourage guests to plant a tree in recognition that the world needs more trees to offset our carbon footprint;
We work to protect and extend our small remnant of native forest and its insect and bird life – all sales from our small souvenir shop (all our Lancewood cushion covers and tea towel are designed and handmade here at Lancewood Villa) contribute to purchasing native eco-sourced seedlings to extend our native forest.

The Yurt is pressed into service on special occasions during warmer months. Modelled on the traditional Mongolian ger, it is constructed of cedar framing covered by a sturdy canvas shell. It has served as a romantic bridal suite for newly married couples and a secluded space for 2 or 3 members of a larger group such as cycle tour groups or travelling musicians. It is the ultimate nature pad, bordering the native bush reserve area and offering our lucky Yurt-dwellers a serenade of moreporks at night and tuis and bellbirds by day. The yurt is carpeted, has an electric light and is surrounded by its own sunny deck furnished with table and chairs. It looks out to a charming vista of bush and rolling pastureland. Guests are able to use the bathroom and toilet facilities in Lancewood Villa itself.
